Lesson 4: Clarity’s Custom Collocation-Based Calibration Process

Now that you know a bit more about how calibration works and why we do it, let’s dive into the actual calibration process and timeline for your Node-S devices.

After your devices have finished their collocation period, your Clarity Project Manager will first check that the required concentration and environmental conditions were met during that period (as a reminder, you can see those requirements in the previous module). If not, they may suggest extending your collocation period to capture the range needed. Once that is complete, they will run a calibration analysis and create reports for both PM2.5 and NO2 that will be shared with you and your project team. Next, they will schedule a dedicated call to walk through the results of the calibration, share their recommendations, and answer any questions you may have. Depending on the results of the calibration analysis, your project manager may ask you to extend your collocation period or replace devices that have not met Clarity’s typical performance threshold.

Once you and your project team approve the calibration, they will then apply the profile to your devices, and you’ll start getting calibrated data in real time from your Node-S devices.

We only apply calibrations to your devices after you have had a chance to review the results and given your written approval to apply the models to your devices. You always have access to your raw data, even after calibration. Once you approve your calibration and it is applied to your devices, a new parameter containing the calibrated data will be available to you on your Clarity Dashboard and API. The parameters containing your raw data will always remain the same and accessible to you.
